Description
I named this picture self portrait because that is who I am. I read a story by Maria de Lourdes Victoria “Aves en las Almas/Birds in our Souls”, where the grandma reveals the secret that all of us women have a bird in our soul. After some soul searching I identified myself with the great egret because I am tall, long necked and my hair is wild like their plumage in the Spring. A great egret is not afraid to be seen alone at ponds or lagoons. She enjoys flying, but she always returns to her nest where her mate awaits and together they roost and tend to their chicks.

Love it. Looks like a watercolor print. I also love the Birds in our Souls story. I think I am flamingo!
